Stranger Things

The TV show Stranger things has a multi strand narrative where the story follows on to one episode to another until the season is finished. The first season consists of 8 episodes that run on one narrative throughout the show. The user gratifications that this show goes under is Diversion since you're able to escape from reality in the non-fiction Hawkins Town. Also another user gratification that fits this TV Show is personal identity because the Stranger Things is  mostly set in the school for the first season, From this the audience can relate them selves as a teenage student living a normal teenage life. The TV show is very effective when creating so much tension and suspense that it makes the audience binge-watch this TV show. Furthermore, it inhibits Barthes's enigmas which force you to resolve it in the following episodes therefore, more people will watch the show. The show also inhibits Todorov's  equilibrium.  For an instance,  in S1E01 the equilibrium (state of balance) is the 4 boys playing Dungeons and dragons then you see the boys playfully riding their bikes back home. The disequilibrium occurs when Will is alone in the dark and encounters a black figure that was chasing Will as he frantically ran home. Will stood hopelessly in the garage while all that adrenaline and fear rushed through his body.  The figure abducted Will without him even knowing. The new equilibrium is solved at the lat episode. There are a lot of enigmas codes such as who or what was that black figure?, where was Will taken?, For what reason was he taken for? There are also action codes such as the bulb flickering,Will falling down the hill, Will reloading the rifle while he was trembling in fear.
